NYU Med namesake/donor helped fund investigation to link Spitzer with Fla. escorts

By Alvin Chang

(Ken Langone, John Sexton and Billie Tisch)

Ken Langone recently donated $100 million to the NYU Med Center ($200 million total) so NYU named the Med Center after him and his wife — the Langone Medical Center.

But guess what else this man did?

According to Politics1, he helped fund an 18-month investigation into former New York governor Eliot Spitzer’s Florida escort service exploits. Why? Because, apparently, he was a target of Spitzer’s investigations when he was attorney general.

Here’s an excerpt:

Reliable sources informed Politics1 that DC super-lobbyist Wayne Berman — a longtime confidant of insurance executive Maurice Hank Greenberg — authorized a private Investigation that discovered the links between Spitzer and a Florida escort service ring. Operating under the alias code-name “Wallace C. Bernheim,” Berman directed an 18-month effort that cost an estimated $2.2 million. The investigation was allegedly paid for by a highly-secretive shadow committee Berman directed, informally nicknamed “The Group.” Sources tell Politics1 that The Group included Greenberg, Home Depot founder Ken Langone and former New York Stock Exchange Chairman Ken Grasso — all high-profile targets of Spitzer when he was Attorney General.

  1. Good for Hank Greenberg, Dick Grasso and Ken Langone! Eliot Spitzer is a criminal and the biggest hypocrite in U.S. History. He was nothing more than a powermad Constitution shredding thug who prosecuted prostitution rings by day and did business as a “john” with other prostitution rings at night. Not many things are more blatant example of public corruption than the top law enforcement officer of the state protecting a criminal enterprise from prosecution because he’s involved with them as a customer. I really hope this creep does some serious prison time. But he did much more and hopefully new investigations will be opened… He destroyed the careers and livelihoods of many decent people like my friend Daniel Panitz (a true American Hero) for nothing more than to slake his own insatiable thirst for more and more power to abuse more and more people with. Thank God he got taken down by his own arrogance. I always believed he would get what was coming to him eventually. And shame on the press for fawning over him, and helping to create his false image as the second coming of Üntouchable” Eliot Ness and for not holding him accountable for his breaking of campaign finance laws years ago and his using extortion and character asassination as AG to force settlements and gain his hollow headline grabbing legal “victories” instead proving cases in a court of law like we’re supposed to do in America. Hopefully the New York Press (with the exception of the WSJ)and most New Yorkers who got steamrolled by Spitzer’s hype have learned a hard lesson from all this.
