If you search through the recent memo sent out by John Sexton’s office, you will learn that you’ll be forking over almost $3,000 more next academic year than this one.
OK, that’s almost to be expected—we knew a 5 to 6 percent tuition hike comes every year, and that’s a whole other issue.
But in this 1,600-word e-mail, this information is buried. How far?
There are 1,000 words in this e-mail before it mentions anything about how much the tuition hike is going to be. Sure, there’s something called public relations, but this is just cowardly. Don’t tell me to work over 3Gs more than what I’m already paying 1,000 words into your lengthy e-mail. In fact, please send out a separate e-mail telling me how much tuition is going up.
I understand how difficult it must be to tell students that their families will have to pay more for an education, but we know some of it is necessary.
But information that could affect our families so much deep into a 1,600 word e-mail is simply wrong.
